The Earth’s climate system is extremely complex. Changes in the orbit and position of planet Earth with respect to the sun are responsible for the great climate cycles (sequence of ice ages and hot periods) in the past millions of years. On top of these mega trends we are dealing with faster variations due to changes in solar activity, cosmic radiation, volcanism, hot & cold ocean currents, cloud cover and human activities. CLINTEL studies the ratio of Natural Global Warming (NGW) and Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW). In addition, CLINTEL looks at the effects of mainstream climate policy, particularly energy transition, to the prosperity development of poor countries and to the well-being development of rich countries.
The past 150 years show that affordable and reliable energy is the key to prosperity. The pas 150 years also show that more CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the earth and increasing the yields of crops. Why do governments ignore these hard facts? Why do they the opposite and lower the quality of life by forcing high-cost, dubious low-carbon energy technologies upon their citizens? The zero-emission act is not only silly, it is also a crime against humanity.
Please, look at the World Climate Declaration with its signatories and look also at CLINTEL’s underlying explanations.
Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures.
The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet has existed, with natural cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850.
Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experi- encing a period of warming.
A global network of more than 800 prominent scientists and experienced professionals has signed Clintel's
World Climate Declaration. The statements of the Declaration contain a clear message: ‘There is NO Climate Emergency’. In part I of this essay the Declaration is shown. In part II the Science behind the Declaration is explained.
In the current climate discussion the iconic parameter is the global average temperature at the Earth’s surface. However, 95% of the heat energy in the climate system rests in the ocean.
